Join us for our upcoming DeSciMTL X DeSciTO cross community event!

Decentralized Science (DeSci) is where the magic happens when research is done and knowledge is shared in ways that shift ownership and value away from industry intermediaries and into the hands of all active participants.

This meetup will dive into what this emerging Open Science/Web 3.0 movement is about and we'll be introduced to two active projects in the space: DeSciLabs and Gitcoin.

These events are all about getting people from different backgrounds, fields and regions together to have awesome discussions, mix things up, spark ideas and foster cutting edge innovation across the various STEM industries in Montreal.

Guest Speakers:

Jonathan Starr, Core atDeSciLabs- DeSciLabs is a dedicated team of scientists and engineers determined to reshape the way knowledge is shared. Their goal is to eliminate barriers like data silos, paywalls, and proprietary analytics from scientific communication. Through innovative technologies, they are advancing open and reproducible science while streamlining publishing and funding processes. Their groundbreaking platform, "Nodes," is designed for researchers to effortlessly publish and manage manuscripts, data, code, and research artifacts. "Nodes" promotes open, interoperable, and compute-enabled research objects, ultimately seeking to redefine scientific collaboration and drive innovation.

Boris Dyakov, Program Coordinator (DeSci) atGitcoin- Gitcoin drives open science by incentivizing open-source collaboration. It rewards developers in cryptocurrency for impactful contributions to public goods projects. Quadratic funding aligns donor and developer interests, amplifying community support. Bounties fund and engage developers in scientific challenges, fostering innovation. Governed by GTC, Gitcoin's decentralization is guided by stewards, advancing public goods funding, prototyping, and security.

Organizers:
